The South Asia Terrorism Portal (www.satp.org) was launched in March 2000, with an initial 1,921 pages of data and information. By 2010, this database had already grown to over 52,148 pages.
SATP is the largest website on terrorism and low intensity warfare in South Asia, and creates the database and analytic context for research and analysis of all extremist movements in the region. SATP has been set up to counter the progressive distortions regarding, and the international community’s neglect of, the wide range of terrorist movements within South Asia, and particularly in India. SATP establishes a comprehensive, searchable and continuously updated database on all available information relating to terrorism, low intensity warfare and ethnic/communal/sectarian strife in South Asia.
The South Asia Terrorism Portal is an indispensable resource for all individuals and institutions the world over that seek information, data, commentary, research, critical assessment and analysis on terrorism, low intensity warfare and sectarian strife in South Asia. The South Asia Terrorism Portal website is a project created and executed by the institute for conflict management. It is a project rooted in a deep conviction that the rising scourge of terrorism is  a threat not only to this region, but to all humanity. The core areas of research on which the Institute focuses include: Continuous appraisal of internal security and the state’s responses in all areas of existing or emerging conflict in South Asia; Planning for Development and Security in India’s Northeast; Administrative Reforms for Restoration of Effective Civil Governance in Terrorism Affected Areas; Emerging Internal Security Challenges in South Asia; Judicial, Legal and Legislative Reforms in Terrorism Affected Areas and areas of widespread civil disorders; Evolution and Dynamics of the Underground Terrorist Economy and its Disruption; Identification and Evaluation of the Impact of Emerging Technologies for Terrorism and Counterterrorism; Emergency Response Codes and Protocols in Terrorism Affected Areas, Security Parameters and Procedures for Installations and Establishments Under Threat of Terrorist Attack, the ‘Peace Dividend’ and the Reconstruction of Societies affected by widespread collective violence, Impact of Terrorism on Child Victims, etc. The Institute is a registered non-profit, non-governmental organisation supported by voluntary contributions and project aid. The Institute has provided consultancy services on terrorism & internal security to a number of governments within India and abroad. Research on terrorism, low intensity warfare, sectarian and other conflict, developmental and economic policies in areas of widespread disorder and the effective civil administration of areas under threat of terrorism or other patterns of widespread strife.
